Helping Young Minds to Grow and Develop

I have many years’ experience in teaching using several different methods. My work is predominantly based in the Montessori method and style of teaching, which involves use of real materials to convey a concept. Once this is firmly understood, I then move on to learning in a more abstract way that results in the child being able to feel confident with using the acquired knowledge within many mathematical situations.

I frequently work to parent’s/guardian’s or carer’s recommendations such as focussing on a particular area to embed that concept such as multiplication or division.

Areas that I cover follow the requirements of the national curriculum, for example if working with a year 1 child I would follow the expectations of the national curriculum for that year.
I also work on areas such as number formations, mental arithmetic and alternative ways of solving maths problems as well as preparation for maths tests.

Over 25 Years of Experience

All children are given a FREE initial assessment to determine what year level they’re currently working at and to identify any learning gaps.

Parents/guardians or carers are kept fully briefed as to the outcome of each lesson, and are involved in the input of the on-going lessons. I will frequently work out a projection of what we would like to achieve over the time that I am working with the child and then share this with the parents/guardians or carers and the child involved.

Lisa is a wonderful care-giver to children. She is a great teacher, who will, I am sure provide a very nurturing environment for young minds! I have worked with Lisa for ten years and observed her dedication towards children. She has always strives to support their needs in a stable, happy, trusting, atmosphere. As well as that, she maintains excellent relations with parents and family members. Wishing Lisa all the best with her “Little People”.
